“Restricted firearm for self-defence”. Slegs boere mag een besit. Only farmers qualify.

Not many people know that a farmer, that farms full time, may posses a fifth firearm for self-defence before he or she needs to do dedicated sport shooting status from an organisation. Section 14 of the Act reads, “Restricted firearm for self-defence”, and in short it means that a farmer may possess a semi automatic shotgun or semi-automatic rifle for self defence. This however can also be your first license. The only requirement is that you farm fulltime.
